What waterproofing do you use in a shower remodel?
We install Schluter-KERDI and Laticrete HydroBan systems, and RedGard where the application calls for it. The membrane goes on the substrate before any tile, with every seam, corner, curb, and penetration sealed, so the shower is waterproofed behind the tile rather than by it. Grout and tile joints are not waterproof, which is why a shower built without a membrane starts failing early no matter how good the tile looks.
